The program involves walking a short distance along the Alpine Pond Loop Trail which is a narrow dirt path with minor elevation changes. The pop-up program will be located at stop number two on the Alpine Loop self-guiding trail. The shortest distance is to access the trail at the Alpine Loop Trailhead.Dates & Times

Description
Join a ranger at the talas slope on the Alpine Pond Loop Trail and see if you can spot the ellusive Pika. This program is part of the park's annual BioBlast Festival, celebrating all of the park's incredible wildlife. Two spotting scopes and several binoculars will be available for visitor use to see the Pika up close while maintaining a safe distance. Programs are for visitors of all ages.
Programs begin at the North View Overlook and are offered Saturday and Sunday mornings, June 19 & 20. Programs are conducted rain or shine, but may be cancelled due to lightning in the area or staff shortages. Please speak with a ranger at the Information Center or North View Fee Booth about daily program offerings.

While temperatures are cool at high elevation, the affects of high elevation may not be immediately apparent. Please drink plenty of water and wear sun protection, the UV Index at the park in the summer is regularly in the "Extreme" category.
