Night Skies over the Obed.  Ranger-led Telescope Program from Lilly Bluff Overlook on November 19, 2022.

Join our Dark Sky Ranger on November 19, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. ET to enjoy the spectacular dark skies at Lilly Bluff Overlook.  An NPS telescope will be available for viewing our two largest gas giant planets, Jupiter and Saturn, which will be prominent in the nightscape.  This program will also highlight other stellar objects such as the wispy Pleiades star cluster and the Andromeda Galaxy.

This event is subject to favorable clear-sky weather conditions.  In the event of inclement weather or cloud cover, the event may be cancelled.  Be sure to call the Obed Visitor Center before 5 p.m. on the day of the event to confirm the status of the event.  Amateur astronomers are also invited to bring their telescopes to join our program and may contact the visitor center for more information.

This event is free to attend.

Location

Parking is at the Lilly Bluff Picnic Area Parking lot, which is off of Ridge Road, a short distance after crossing Lilly Bridge. The program will be at the Lilly Bluff Overlook, which is a short 10-minute walk from the parking area. Signs will be posted to indicate the trail to the overlook.
