This hike packs a punch. It may be short but it will get your blood pumping! Take the Kaymoor Miner's trail down to the Kaymoor mine and back for a 1.4 mile hike with one of our community captains. Please bring water, snacks, good shoes, and warm clothing and rain gear.This steep hike takes you from rim to river with a 900 foot elevation gain that includes climbing down then up 821 wood stairs as well as steep switchbacks and rock steps.
Meet at Kaymoor Miner's Trailhead at Kaymoor Top. To get to the trailhead: From US 19, follow WV 16 south through Fayetteville. Turn left on Gatewood Road (park signs indicates Kaymoor and Cunard). Follow Gatewood Road 2.0 miles, and turn left at the Kaymoor sign (Kaymoor No. 1 Road). Follow this road about one mile to the "T" intersection; turn left. Parking is 50 yards on the right.
