Description
New Orleans JAZZ NHP’s Song o’ the Day:
“Jump, Jive & Wail”
On this day, June 16th, in 2012, New Orleans’ longest playing band said “farewell”. The Nobles had begun playing in 1959, and, after performing for 53 years, went out with a mega-bash at the Rock ‘n’ Bowl music venue on Carrolton Avenue. During those decades, more than 70 musicians played with the group at different times, including crooner-cum-car magnate Ronnie Lamarque. Performing everything from ’50s rock ’n’ roll to disco – from “What a Wonderful World” to “We Want the Funk”, garnered The Nobles induction into The Louisiana Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Our Song o’ the Day, today, is from The Nobles eclectic song list, a number performed by Tom Hook’s Louis Prima Tribute Band: “Jump, Jive & Wail”.
Written by: Louis Prima, 1956
