Wilderness Visitor Center: Take William Floyd Parkway (Route 46) to Smith Point County Park for access to the Wilderness Visitor Center, a small octagonal building on the right as you are headed south. Free parking is available in the Smith Point parking lot just to the east/on the left.

Description
Join a park ranger or volunteer naturalist for this 4-mile round-trip hike along the ocean beach to Old Inlet. Once the site of the breach created in 2012 by Superstorm Sandy, this area is now a showcase of beach dynamics and dune formation. Learn about the forces of waves and wind that create these features and see how the site has changed. Dress for the weather and for walking on sand. Bring drinking water and a snack.
