Train ride will last approximately 2.5 hours; departing Steamtown at 10:00 a.m., and arriving at Carbondale at approximately 12:15pm. There will be a 2 hour layover at the Carbondale Station for the event. Returning train ride will last approximately 2.75 hours; departing Carbondale at 2:15 p.m., and returning to Steamtown around 4:30 p.m.


Description

Join the Carbondale Arts Alliance’s annual citywide Scarecrow Festival! Walk around downtown Carbondale and see all the scarecrows local businesses decorated for this event. In Memorial Park there will also be a marketplace with vendors, face painting, and live music.

Carbondale Station Description and Details
Take a scenic train ride through the Lackawanna Valley along the old Delaware & Hudson Railroad tracks to Carbondale, PA.
 
History: Carbondale’s present-day train station was built on the site of the Delaware and Hudson Seventh Avenue train station that was opened on February 1, 1896. Local and express trains, both north and south, from Carbondale arrived and departed from Carbondale on a daily basis. In the 1950s, as many as fifteen passenger trains departed daily from this station for Scranton.
 
Amenities: Light food and refreshments will be available for purchase as part of the Autumn Marketplace.
