Annie Jump Cannon: Sorter of the Stars

Rock Creek Park

  • Mar 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM
  • Free

For Women's History Month, join a park ranger in the planetarium to learn about astronomer Annie Jump Cannon. Annie was one of a group of women astronomers at Harvard Observatory who worked on a map of every star in the sky. Annie not only was the fastest at analyzing the stars, but she also developed a new system of classification that is still used today. After the presentation will be a craft activity to make our own spectroscopes.
