Upon returning home, reporter Carl Rowan saw a wire report that claimed black preachers in Montgomery had called off the bus boycott. This fake news plot was foiled by Martin Luther King, Jr. and his team. As the false reports circulated, King spent that night in pool halls warning people not to believe the news.
