Astronomy Night - Full Moon Rise over Grand Canyon

Arrive at Mather Point at 4:30 pm to watch moonrise over the Grand Canyon at 4:50 pm, then turn west and watch sunset at 5:15 pm! Astronomer Dr. Jennifer Hoffman will be at Mather Point with a few telescopes to show you then Sun, the Moon, and early evening objects! This is an informal gathering to watch moonrise, not a formal program!

Time: 4:30 pm (allow 1 hour)

Location: South Rim - Park in one of the Visitor Center parking lots. It is a 5 to 10 minute walk along a paved path to Mather Point.

Location

From the South Entrance Station, continue following the road you are on for 5 miles, and it will lead you to the Visitor Center. Just before the parking areas, the road curves to the left. You can park your vehicle in one of four parking areas and find your way to the Visitor Center, in the center of the open plaza where restroom buildings, the park store, and the bicycle rental are also located.
