Cuyahoga Valley Photo Society: Robert Glenn Ketchum: Photographs of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Join the Cuyahoga Valley Photo Society at the Akron Art Museum on Robert Glenn Ketchum’s photographs of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This special program will include an overview of Ketchum and a tour of the exhibit.
“Ordinary Miracles: Robert Glenn Ketchum’s Photographs of Cuyahoga Valley National Park” opened in August and ends January 25. The exhibit is part of the national park’s 50th anniversary.
From 1986-1988 Ketchum documented what was then known as the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area. Ketchum’s large color photographs show the reality of the landscape at that time, including gas wells on farmland, industrial dump sites and graffiti. The Akron Art Museum commissioned the project, which resulted in the 1991 book, “Overlooked in America: The Success and Failure of Federal Land Management.”
