Description

You are invited to volunteer for a Weed Blitz!

This event will take place from 8:30am – noon on July 28th or 29th, or both.

Volunteers are needed to help control invasive musk thistle and common mullein in the park. These are plants are currently spreading rapidly in a few areas of the park, and park staff could use some assistance in cutting and bagging thistle flower heads and digging up mullein. The park is trying to get control of the spread of these plants before they exponentially increase.

We will meet at 8:30 am each day at the old Far View Visitor Center Parking Lot, located just past the Far View Lodge at mile marker 15 on the park road. Volunteers will be provided loppers, gloves, safety vests, and instruction from park staff on how to identify and remove the weeds.

It is suggested volunteers provide comfortable hiking boots or shoes, hats, backpack, and water. Expect to walk up to 2 miles off trail. Minimum age 14.
