Description
A song cycle for soprano and piano featuring librettist Maureen Broy Papovich. Papovich's grandmother, Cecil Norton Broy, was an NWP member whose portrait is in the NWP collection and will be on display during the concert. This set of six songs explores the history of the Equal Rights Amendment, the National Women’s Party, and the contributions of Cecil Norton Broy. Along with the music, Ms. Papovich will present a short lecture and slideshow about the subject. The ERA Project combines beautiful music with inspiring and thought-provoking content.
Maureen Broy Papovich is a versatile soprano, with an artistic range that spans from classical to modern music. She is active in staged and concert venues as a soloist and ensemblist. She is at home in Central Texas, appearing with the Austin Opera, Local Opera Local Artists, One Ounce Opera, the San Antonio Chamber Choir, the Texas Bach Festival and Inversion Ensemble. Inspired by singing new music, Ms. Papovich has collaborated with local composers to write new song cycles, including The ERA Project with composer, Rain Nox, and Most Importantly Loves with composer, Adrienne Inglis.
