Description
Join the staff and volunteers of Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site for our popular fall program, "The Staple Bend Tunnel Ghost Tour." Visitors will meet park staff at the Staple Bend Tunnel Trailhead parking lot in Mineral Point and take a short bus ride to the tunnel. At the tunnel, visitors will meet historic characters who will share some of the darker stories of traveling and working on the Allegheny Portage Railroad. The hour long program includes a lantern lit walk through the 901-foot-long tunnel. These family-friendly tours begin at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 PM.
The tour is $2 per person and reservations are required. Call the park Visitor Center at 814-886-6150 for more information and to make reservations. Staple Bend Tunnel is located on Beech Hill Road in Mineral Point.
