Exploring the Sky Pre-show

Rock Creek Park

  • Jul 15, 2023 at 8:00 PM
  • Free

Half the park is after dark!

Visit the only planetarium in the national park system for a preview of the cosmos! Get an idea of the night sky and a preview of what might be visible through the telescopes of the National Capitol Astronomers (weather permitting).

This event will happen rain or shine and is appropriate for audience members ages five and older. Seating in the planetarium is limited. Please arrive 15 minutes early to pick up place holder tickets. In the event we have more people in attendence than the planetarium can hold, we will try to do a second program immediately after the first to accomodate as many people as possible.

If the weather is bad, the volunteers from the National Capitol Astronomer group might be in attendence and can help us get a better understanding of our night sky. If the weather is good, we will walk from the Nature Center to Military Meadow immediately after the program.
