Join us for a virtual picnic!

Before Labor Day became an official holiday, May Day was an important day for laborers to organize and socialize. Whether they came together around a May Pole, a picnic blanket, or bargaining table, May Day was a workers' day. When workers gathered for picnics and other celebrations like May Day, they were enjoying not just their time off, but the struggle to earn it.

This program will feature a history of May Day, including its origins, and a discussion of labor past and present. It will be hosted on an internet platform and will feature special guest Professor Robert Forrant, UMass Lowell. Grab your favorite picnic blanket or chair and join us virtually.
