Description
To commemorate the 78th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion of France, join a free ranger guided walking tour of Gettysburg National Cemetery exploring the stories of D-Day casualties who were brought home to Gettysburg for their final burial after WWII. Gettysburg National Cemetery serves as the final resting place for 590 WWII servicemembers who were killed in action during the war. 12 of these servicemembers were killed in action June 6, 1944.
This program will meet at the Taneytown Road entrance to the National Cemetery at 5 p.m. After the conclusion of this program visitors are invited to stay and attend the evening "100 Nights of Taps" ceremony, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Soldiers National Monument in the cemetery.
