Description

When the orphaned George Washington Carver was about 12 years old, he left the Moses Carver farm for nearby Neosho, Missouri all on his own, he met Mariah Watkins. Her influence on young Carver during his stay in her home strengthened his confidence, nurtured his budding faith in God, and encouraged him to pursue an education.
