Hikers must be at Faraway Ranch Parking area with water and gear in hand by 9 am. Multi-day campers may pick up the shuttle at 9:10 at the campground restroom.
Description
Hikers' transport will shuttle day visitors from Faraway Ranch to Massai Point or Echo Canyon. Hikers can choose one of two routes to hike back the 5-8.5 miles back to their car. There is no return transport except your feet!
The hike from the top parking lots to the bottom of the monument is a 1,500 ft drop in elevation. While downhill may seem easier, these hikes are challenging and long at this elevation. Many areas of the trail are steep with loose gravelly rock and seasonal water crossings. Wear good hiking boots and bring plenty of water and electrolytes or salty snacks.
Subject to staff availibility. Limited to first 13 passengers. One additional run may be conducted at 9:45 in the rare overflow situations.
Groups of 6 or more may be asked to use their own vehicles when space is limited.
Please park in the Faraway Ranch Parking Lot.
