This program is free and open to the public.

In partnership with The New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, The Neighborhood Story Project is hosting a beading workshop with Big Chief Victor Harris and Master Designer Jack Robertson of the Spirit of Fi Yi Yi and the Mandingo Warriors. Victor Harris is the longest masking chief in the Black Masking community in New Orleans. This past carnival season was his 57th year creating a new suit. Since 1986, Jack Robertson has joined him at the table to sew the intricate suits and masks he wears on Mardi Gras day. During the workshop, participants will learn how to sew a beaded patch using the techniques they have developed over more than a half a century.

All supplies will be provided.
