Description

What happens when two artists get married? In the beautiful case of Bill and Lisa Westheimer, married for the past 30 years, they found each other’s muse, extra pair of hands, and harshest but loving critic! Join us for a special lecture that will cover the work of photographer Bill Westheimer and ceramist & glass artist Lisa Westheimer and how they live and work side by side in a converted historic stable located in Llewellyn Park in West Orange, NJ.
Bill Westheimer has been fascinated and experimented with alternative photography processes since childhood. A former student at Union College, he continued with his experiments in photography and experimental image making. Later Bill studied with Jerry Burchfield who introduced him to color photograms and Cibachrome (Ilfochrome) printing. Bill went on to teach Cibachrome printing at Colorado Mountain College in Aspen. Recent work includes modern fossils of photograms printed on slate, 3D printed book sculptures, photograms made on collodion glass plates, Ilfochrome and gelatin silver media. His works are exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide. https://billwest.com/

Lisa G Westheimer is a full time studio artist, receiving her Masters in Studio Arts Concentration Ceramics from Montclair State University in 2008. Post graduation she studied luster firing techniques, which paved the way for her determined journey of pushing the boundaries of the media of ceramics and fusible glass. Her work has been shown nationally and she teaches at Peters Valley School of Craft and the Montclair Art Museum’s Yard School of Art. She has taught alternative firing workshops at The Convent of the Sacred Heart school in NYC and privately. https://www.lisagw.com/
