Description
Show your love for Arches National Park by helping salvage native plants and relocating them to a new home!
The parking lot near Double Arch in The Windows Section will soon undergo expansion into an area currently occupied by thriving desert plants. During the first half of this volunteer service event, we will carefully harvest native plants and living soil crusts from the area marked for development. In the event's second half, we will transport the salvaged plants and crust patches to a restoration area near Lower Courthouse Wash.
Park staff will provide lessons on native plants and the numerous benefits of biological soil crust and its cultivation. Participants may be allowed to take home a limited number of the ricegrass plants they help to salvage. All equipment will be provided and all ages and abilities welcome. All volunteer participants are required to wear a mask or facial covering when within 6 feet of visitors and park staff.
NOTE: The park entrance line can cause 30- to 60-minute delays.
To arrive at this event on time, we encourage participants to get to the park before 7:45 am and enjoy the scenery before the volunteer event begins.
