Description
Calling all nerds! Expand your knowledge and join fellow nature enthusiasts for a night of education and wonder. There will be a series of presentations given by local experts with each month covering a different topic. For more information and a list of topics visit our website or call 1-219-395-1882.
Friday August 16 - Join Dr. Noel Pavlovic for a presentation on the newly released research report "Special Flora of the Indiana Dunes". Noel Pavlovic is a research ecologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, Great Lakes Science Center. He has worked for 40+ years at the Indiana Dunes and is currently housed at the Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station on Kemil Rd (formerly the INDU visitor center). Come celebrate the science of over 100 years of botany at the dunes.
Friday September 20 - Join Octave Chanute expert Simine Short as she takes you on a journey showing photos taken 128 years ago of the glider flying experiments in the dunes along Lake Michigan, an area that is now the Indiana Dunes National Park. Learn of the communication and interaction between the many aviation pioneers, including the Wright Brothers and Chanute, and how he helped pave the way to achieve powered flight in 1903.
Where: Join us in person at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center, 1215 IN-49, Porter, IN 46304
