Description

Watch history come to life as Jarice Hanson portrays Frances Perkins, the first-ever woman to serve in a Presidential cabinet. Learn more about Perkins’ role as Franklin Roosevelt’s Secretary of Labor and what it was like to be a woman in politics in the 1930s and 1940s. Stick around after the performance for a Q&A session.

Performance funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Springfield Cultural Council. 

Temporary exhibit Frances Perkins: The Woman Behind the New Deal, on loan from the Frances Perkins Center in Newcastle, Maine, will be on display during the performance.
