In January 1781, a force of British troops descended on Richmond during the Revolutionary War. Led by General Benedict Arnold, who had recently switched sides, the raid was his first undertaking as a British officer. After driving off the Virginia militia, Arnold’s troops occupied Richmond, destroying supplies.

On Saturday, January 10, park rangers will offer a walking tour focused on Arnold's Raid and Richmond in the Revolution. Along the way, we will evaluate the actions of General Arnold and Governor Thomas Jefferson. The free walking tour begins at 10 am at the Chimborazo Visitor Center and lasts one hour.
