Maggie L. Walker's 162nd Birthday Celebration
Tours of the Walker house will be capped at 12 people and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is only required for the clean-up event on Saturday, July 11.
Join us, July 10-11, 2026 for a celebration of the life of Maggie L. Walker, visionary civil rights activist and civic leader.
Celebrate Walker family stories through Oral History House Tours featuring her grandchildren’s voices. Saturday afternoon, from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., enjoy an Open House Hour exploring the beautifully restored first‑floor rooms of the Walker House.
There will be a Maggie L. Walker Day of Service at Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, July 11, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. See link for registration.

Tours will begin at the Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site Visitor Center at 600 N. 2nd St., Richmond, VA 23219. The clean-up event on July 11 will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, 50 Evergreen Rd.

Site will be open 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10, and 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. Guided tours will be offered at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m., both days. A special open house walk through of the first floor of the house will be offered from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on July 11. The clean-up event on July 11 will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.
