Description

Clara Barton revolutionized the role of women in medical care and society. This program will examine how Barton challenged the accepted role of women in 19th century American Society. Barton defied the limits placed on women through her service as a battlefield nurse during the Civil War, wars in Europe, and ultimately in the American Red Cross. This program includese a hands on activity that will look at 19th century battlefield medical improvements and readings from Clara Barton's journal.
