Anishnaabek people worked hard to stay in their homelands in Northern Michigan. They used diplomacy, treaties, care for their communities, and defense when needed. This talk explains why staying mattered, how relationships with other Nations and the United States shaped events, and how those choices still affect life today.

This program is taught by Anishinaabe historian Eric Hemenway.
