Description
Visit Fort McHenry and learn more about the Civil War origins of Memorial Day. Join a park ranger for the morning flag change and assist in raising a replica Civil War era garrison flag over the historic Star Fort. Special ranger programs will be offered throughout the day to introduce visitors to the origins of Memorial Day during the Civil War.
Additional programs will be offered in commemoration of Memorial Day:
12:00 pm - 'Origins of Memorial Day,' followed by a flag raising and wreath laying ceremony inside the Star Fort.
2:45 pm - Memorial Day speech followed by a National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 pm.
