Description

Join us at the Big Hole NB Visitor Center as Leroy Seth and Jesse Padilla share their cultural expertise!

Mr. Seth is the great-grandson of Peo Peo Tholekt, a nımí·pu· (Nez Perce) warrior who fought with distinction throughout the Flight of 1877. Mr. Seth is an enrolled member of the nımí·pu· Tribe and was raised in the traditional manner. He has extensive knowledge of nımí·pu· traditional culture, customs, and religion. He will focus on nımí·pu· religious and dance customs. Mr. Seth is a graduate of the University of Montana, and is a world-renowned artist and dancer.

Mr. Padilla is an enrolled member of the nımí·pu· Tribe. He is a graduate of Eastern Washington University where he earned his B.A., The Institute of American Indian Art in Santa Fe, NM, where he studied design and performance, and the University of New Mexico where he completed his graduate work. Mr. Padilla has lived across the American West, and has worked with academic and professional companies in theater, film, and more. He now brings his efforts home to Idaho where he helps ensure the continuation of nımí·pu· culture in the modern era. Mr. Padilla will focus on modern nımí·pu· culture, how the tribe carries their traditions into the future, and what it means to be nımí·pu· in a modern age.
