Description
People have been living, hunting, and traveling in this region for more than ten thousand years. Cedar Breaks did not start with the National Park Service, and it definitely won’t end with us either. Everyone who lived, hunted, worked, and traveled through this region shaped its history and appearance today. So many generations of people have enjoyed the same sights that people enjoy today. If you'd like to hear some stories from the past, visit the park on August 9-11th to attend our Cedar Breaks Heritage Festival.
The people before us hunted, gathered, herded sheep, made and sold cheese, attended dances and concerts in Brian Head, served food to customers and travelers, built the infrastructure of the park, and much more. While we might change and grow over time, our impact on the places we go remains. One day people will tell stories of the people who visited and hiked at Cedar Breaks National Monument. When you visit, remember you are here alongside 10,000 years of human history.
