Have you ever wanted to catch a butterfly? What about volunteer for a national park?!

Well, it is your lucky day! On September 24th from 10:00am to 1:00pm the rangers at Hopewell Culture NHP are hosting a Monarch tagging volunteer day! Celebrate National Public Lands Day by participating in this opportunity to learn more about the migration and population size of monarch butterflies.

Rangers will meet you at the Hopeton Earthworks parking lot. Volunteer waivers will be required to be filled out upon arrival, all supplies and info on how to catch and tag monarchs will be provided.

Hopeton Earthworks is a more primitive site so please use the restroom before coming, bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, and wear long pants and close-toed shoes for walking in tall grasses. Hopeton Earthworks is located at 990 Hopetown Rd., Chillicothe, Ohio 45601. This event is free, registration is not required. You can drop in throughout the event to participate for a few minutes or the whole time. Call the park for more information at 740-774-1126.
