Benjamin Banneker, Astronomy and the founding of Washington, DC

Join the NPS at Jones Point to see how the FIRST boundary stone of Washington, DC, the   

patriot, Benjamin Banneker and astronomy all come together!  Early surveyors used the stars  

and notable landmarks to determine boundaries. In this program visitors will see the first  

boundary stone of Washington, DC., learn about Benjamin Banneker and see notable celestial  

formations. A telescope will be provided, and a ranger will guide the group around the night  sky.
