Description
Please join Denali National Park and Preserve for an evening celebrating the winter solstice. Bring your skis or snowshoes and drop by the Winter Visitor Center between 4–6pm to explore the boreal forest along a luminary-lit trail. This event is family friendly, and the trail is appropriate for all levels of skiing and snowshoe ability.
Hot drinks will be provided at the Indoor Picnic Area. Please bring a mug, headlamp, and warm layers as we observe and celebrate the longest night of the year!
There will also be a Wilderness Film Screenings during the Winter Solstice Ski and Stroll event! In light of the 60th anniversary of the Wilderness Act and our evolving idea of wilderness, we are screening films that showcase how people connect with and belong in Alaska’s wilderness spaces. Admission is free for all screenings. See films and screening times below.
An American Ascent – 5:00 PM in the Winter Visitor Center
IMAGO – 4:00 PM & 5:15 PM in the Indoor Picnic Area
Lake Clark Skate Date – 4:30 PM & 5:35 PM in the Indoor Picnic Area
What Are We Gonna Do if We Don't Live off the Land? – 4:40 PM & 5:40 PM in the Indoor Picnic Area
