Summer Speaker Series- Lakota Ethnobotany with Richard Sherman
Special Event
Join Lakota ethnobotanist and elder Richard T. Sherman for an introduction to the native plants of the Northern Plains and their roles in Lakota life. An educator, author, and longtime natural‑resource leader with the Oglala Sioux Parks & Recreation Authority, Sherman helped craft the Tribe’s first comprehensive Fish & Wildlife Code and devloped an Indigenous Stewardship Model that integrates culturally appropriate solutions with Western science.
After the indoor talk, choose to join a short, optional guided plant walk to see featured species in the field!
