10 am to 4 pm: Village — Henry and Ian Nez, Navajo (Diné) Silversmiths, demonstrate how they make jewelry.

This week, father and son Silversmiths, Henry and Ian Nez will be demonstrating their craft and sharing their Diné culture at Grand Canyon Visitor Center, from Tuesday, December 19th, through Thursday, December 21st, from 10 am to 4 pm. 

Henry credits his uncle with teaching him the art of silversmithing, however, over the past 25 years he has developed his own personalized style. He has mastered a wide range of techniques and designs and is well known for his silver bracelets and rings that are inlayed with natural stones.

Stop by and watch Henry and his son Ian demonstrate how they make rings, earrings, pendants, and bracelets, from start to finish. 
 

• The Cultural Demonstration program provides an opportunity for park visitors and community members to interact with tribal artisans from Grand Canyon's traditionally associated tribes - and for them to share their history and crafts, along with the skills, knowledge, and efforts involved in creating their handicrafts.

Location

From the South Entrance Station, continue following the road you are on for 5 miles, and it will lead you to the Visitor Center. Just before the parking areas, the road curves to the left. You can park your vehicle in one of four parking areas and find your way to the Visitor Center, in the center of the open plaza, where restroom buildings, the park store, and the bicycle rental are also located.
