Description

Join us for our Read With A Ranger program. Rangers will be reading two books during this program.

One being "The Untold Story of John P. Parker, Underground Railroad Conductor" by Dr. Artika R. Tyner. Most people have heard about Harriet Tubman, but there were many others helping enslaved people emancipate themselves. One of them was John P. Parker. Learn about how he helped enslaved people cross the Ohio River to freedom, including Gabriel Young, the father of Brigadier General Charles Young.

The other book will be "If I Were A Park Ranger" by Catherine Stier. If you ever imagined what it would be like to be a Park Ranger, this book will help show you all the ways you can be. From the mountain tops to the seashores and the historic homes to the underground caves, there are plenty of ways to be a Park Ranger.
