Star Party and Candlelight Hike
Arrive anytime between 9 pm and 10:30 pm — parking is usually tight right at 9 pm, so come a little later for an easier spot.
Check out the night sky at drop-in telescope and information stations available thanks to the Grand Traverse Astronomical Society. You can also experience the magic of the dunes after dark on a one-mile, easy trail glowing with lanterns to light your way.
Start your adventure at the base of the dune — look for the welcome table where park staff will get you started.
Please park with your headlights facing east, away from the Dune Climb. It is also suggested that you bring a flashlight for a safe walk back to the car.
This event will take place even if it is cloudy. If rain is in the forecast, please call park rangers at 231-326-4700, ext. 5005, for a voicemail message with any updates or cancellation information. This voicemail will be updated by 7 pm the day of the program.
