Description

Come join Ranger William at the Wilkes Heritage Museum on November 5, 2022! This portion of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail was used by Patriots from the Yadkin River Valley on September 27, 1780 as they journeyed towards the Battle of Kings Mountain.

Ranger William will have his "mobile Visitor Center" operating from 11am to 3pm, with maps, brochures, Junior Ranger books, and a few fun Kids Crafts!

At 12pm, Ranger William will be presenting his program "The Partians United," sharing some of the backgrounds of key Patriot officers and how their co-operation during the Kings Mountain Campaign was a large part of their victory.

At 2pm, Ranger William will be presenting his program "Rogues, Banditti, & Crackers," talking about the backcountry culture in the 18th century and how that hard lifestyle created backwoods fighters that were able to de-rail the British attempts to conquer the southern colonies.

This event will be preceding a special Veterans program at the Wilkes Heritage Museum. For more information, contact the museum at (336)667-3171.
