Description

Fossils are the only practical means of telling time in geology and can also be important indicators of prehistoric climate conditions. The chances of a given animal having the extraordinary luck of being preserved and collected by a paleontologist are extraordinarily small. This program will focus on the odds of fossil preservation, the classification of these preserved remains from the remote past, and the various methods of dating fossils. Participants will learn how and where fossils are found and explore the fossil display to learn about the behavior and activity of these ancient organisms.
