Description
Cinco de Mayo has become a big fiesta in the United States with Mexican food, song, dance, and cultural activities. What is being celebrated? It’s not Mexican Independence.
Fiestas aside, it is a day to remember the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, when Mexicans defended their sovereignty and defeated the French army in the town of Puebla. Meanwhile, north of the border, Americans were fighting a Civil War.
Join Ranger Tim as he remembers Cinco de Mayo and tells the untold story of how the French defeat at Puebla had a peculiar impact on the American Civil War. This is a bilingual talk in English and Spanish.
