The Birth of Air Mail: New Technology in the Nation’s Capital

While air mail had appeared as a novelty in early aviation, regularly scheduled air mail routes had their origins in Washington, DC.  The Postal Department, always with an eye on new technology, was keen to introduce new machines to deliver mail in a rapidly modernizing world.
