Come to the Guntzel Theater from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on April 5, 2019 for a program with Seneca County Historian Walt Gable and Local Rail Historian Paul Shinal! This program continues the partnership between Women’s National Historical Park and  the Seneca Museum of Waterways and Industry.

Tonight's program is "The Railways of Seneca County."

What the waterways began, the railways of Seneca County brought to fruition: the transition from an agrarian way of life to an industrial society. As the railways grew throughout the county, not only did they provide the physical transportation of both people & goods, they provided the intermingling of social & economic ideas between its populace & those living in other parts of our nation & around the world. From our milk & fruits to our fire engines & pianos, from a convention for woman’s rights to the training of soldiers to protect our American freedoms, our railroads united our people to those living in distant cities & lands. Come, hear & see how the railways of Seneca County were once the blood of our existence.

These railways include the Auburn Road; the Lehigh Valley lines; the Seneca County Railroad; the Hayts Corners, Ovid & Willard Railroad, and the trolley line connecting Geneva with Cayuga Lake Park.
