Juneteenth at Fort Reno: “Remembering Reno City”
Join us at Fort Reno Park as we commemorate Juneteenth, a powerful day of reflection and celebration marking the ending of slavery, brought about by United States victory in the Civil War and the ending of slavery. This year, our observance takes on a special dimension as we remember and honor the vibrant and thriving community of Reno.
Formerly enslaved men and women and veterans of the United States Colored Troops were among the first residents of Reno City. Historians, authors, students and descendants will gather at Fort Reno Park to share the history and remember Reno City.
