Description
Wilson's Creek National Battlefield will be hosting Chief Glenna Wallace on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the battlefield’s Visitor Center. “Come enjoy and learn about the history of the Eastern Shawnees, in this unique opportunity to appreciate our history, as told through the eyes of Chief Wallace,” according to Supt. Hillmer.
Chief Wallace’s program is entitled “Native Americans and the Civil War.”
Glenna J. Wallace began her professional career with 38½ years as an Instructor, then Academic Dean at Crowder College where she estimates she taught about 25,000 students. Glenna began her second career as Chief Glenna J. Wallace, Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma in 2006, serving 12 years, emphasizing education and a Rebirth of Cultural Awareness, and was elected for a fourth four-year term in September of 2018. A dedicated community servant, she has served on countless committees and boards and been honored with numerous awards. A sought-after speaker, she has delivered numerous speeches nationwide.
