Description
The LGBTQIA+ community is notably underrepresented within national parks. In response to this disparity, TriVersity Pride Center, Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, and Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area have collaborated to offer a unique opportunity for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their allies. Paddle for Pride aims to provide a comprehensive experience that combines river safety instruction in canoes, kayaks, or rafts with opportunities for fostering new connections and enhancing awareness of LGBTQIA+ history within our national park system.
On July 27th, from 9am-5pm, the day will start off at the Kittatinny Matamoras river access, located at 1147 Delaware Drive, where participants will learn about river safety and paddling techniques along with LGBTQIA+ history from Stonewall National Monument park rangers. Then, participants will be shuttled to Kittatinny staircase rapids river access where a rainbow canoe will lead the four-hour paddle down to Matamoras. Registration will be through Kittatinny canoes website and spots will be limited. For more details, please visit Triversity's event page.
