Roots of Remembrance

Stones River National Battlefield

Special Event
  • Oct 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM
  • Free
Just as roots anchor and nourish Stones River National Cemetery's trees, the human stories linked to that landscape connect us to that hallowed ground through inspiration. Join us for a walk through Stones River National Cemetery with stops at some of its oldest trees. You'll learn about those living witnesses to more than a century of commemoration and memory. We'll also explore the rich history of the national cemetery and the stories of the veterans who rest there.

These special programs will take place at 11 AM and 2 PM and will begin at the Stones River National Cemetery rostrum. Visitors should park in the visitor center parking lot and enter the national cemetery using the signalized crosswalk.

Each walk last about 60 minutes and cover about a half mile. Part of the route will be over uneven terrain.
