Description

A favorite holiday tradition in New Orleans are the annual concerts at St. Louis Cathedral and St. Augustine Church. This year, concerts are virtual and can be watched from anywhere, cultivating new fans around the globe who can make plans to attend the free shows in person next year.  This series is produced by French Quarter Festivals, Inc. (FQFI) as part of Holidays New Orleans Style in partnership with New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park.

Additionally, we would also like to thank theNew Orleans Business Alliance, New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, WWL-TV, Fidelity Bank, Dorignac’s Food Center, Louisiana Fish Fry, WWOZ 90.7 FM, New Orleans Jazz Museum, OffBeat Magazine, The Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate and NOLA.com, and Clarion Herald without their contributions the series would not have been possible.

A native of New Orleans, Tim Laughlin fell in love with the sound of the clarinet before he ever held one after hearing a childhood friend practicing his clarinet. He was nine when he received his first horn and shortly after became hooked on jazz after hearing it on the radio. After finishing high school he began working around town and eventually joined the musicians union where he would meet and perform with some of his most influential mentors. He has recorded a dozen solo CDs among which “The Isle of Orleans” (2003) is an award- winning collection of Laughlin originals. Several of his tunes have been featured in television shows, commercials and motion pictures. Of particular note, he was the first New Orleans clarinetist to ever write and record an entire album of originals.
