Description

Join an interpretive volunteer at the King Canyon Trailhead for a 3-hour/3-mile loop hike. On this hike you will learn about the Hohokam peoples who did the petroglyphs you will see, learn about the mining activity in the parks boundary like that you will see at the Gould Mine and a few Civilian Conservation Corp projects completed in the 1930’s will be visited. Of course, any walk through the desert will include the sharing of information about many of the plants you will see. You will need to carry at least one liter/quart of water, a salty snack and hiking poles are encouraged. Limit to 10 people. Signup required. You must provide a contact phone number in case the outing needs to be canceled. The volunteer leader is First Aid trained but cannot administer any medications (Epi pens, heart medicines, etc.). Emergency response may be an hour or more away.
