Description
No one knows the USS Pampanito better Rich Pekelney. For almost 30 years, Mr. Pekelney has done everything for the sub from scrounging for parts to rehauling the sanitary waste system. Join us for an afternoon talk where he will tell the stories of the Pampanito's rich legacy including a discussion of the critical importance of the communications security and its mission as a museum and memorial.
Rich Pekelney has been restoring historic vessels for over 39 years. He recently resigned from the Board of Trustees of SF Maritime National Park Association after serving 21 years and has served on several other non-profit boards including the Historic Naval Ships Association. He has presented papers on historic ship preservation, restoration, and research at over two dozen conferences. He has experience with museum projects in the USA, Canada, France, England, Brazil, Taiwan, Turkey, Chile, and Israel. Professionally he has worked for over 40 years on the research and development of micro-computer accessories. He is often called upon to help development teams to understand and integrate ergonomic research results into the design of their products.
