Night Sky Viewing

Pipestone National Monument

Special Event
  • Apr 27, 2019 at 8:30 PM
  • Free

On April 27th, Dr. Nathan Grau from Augustana University will bring tracking telescopes and his enthusiasm for the night sky to Pipestone National Monument!

This free program begins at 8:30 p.m. in front of the visitor center and officially ends at 10:00 p.m. The 90 minute duration is so that all visitors may have a chance to look through the telescopes and ask Dr. Grau questions. However, visitors are not required to stay for the entire 90 minutes.

Visitors are asked to arrive before the 8:30 p.m. start time and are encouraged to wear layers and gloves (feel free to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on).

In the event of rain, the date will be pushed to the following weekend (May 4th).

The park will provide free hot cider and snacks (while supplies last!).
